Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God;

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in all the earth.”

Psalm 46:10

Be still

Be still as the world spins out of control

Where stress and worries take their toll

Distractions, obsessions, years have stole

His voice beckons, “Come, be whole”

Be still, minds don’t slow down

Running faster on slippery ground

Yet it’s in the mud where I’ve finally found

Forgiveness, peace, a liberating sound

Be still, it’s not in my nature

Clashing with culture

Ashamed of failures

Trying to be my own savior

Be still, long enough to hear

The still small voice removing fear

Leaning in, He faithfully draws near

Giving peace, wiping away life’s broken tears

Be still
