A Prayer of Compassion

“Lord, may I remember this week that I have been set apart for the special work of helping people find You.

May I have a gripping vision to show people Your love, using my time, talents and resources, to serve people in tangible, practical ways.

May I be unified with others, caring more that people experience Your love rather than me getting my own way.

Lord, will you give me an irrational love for those around me, especially for those who are hard to love.

May I live out my life celebrating Your sacrifice. A sacrifice that allows me to find peace in You.

May I practice useful sacrifices, such as standing up against injustice, practicing mercy to my family, neighbors and even my enemies and may I walk in humility with You every day, finding strength, compassion and wisdom through Your spirit.

May I remember that You did not come to call those who thought they were well, but You came to take care of those who knew they were sick.

May I look this week for those who are emotionally, physically or spiritually sick and wrap the arms of Your Grace arod them.

And daily, may I pray this bold prayer, not asking You to bless what I am doing, but to pursue what You are doing, because it is already blessed.

AMEN.”
